Obituary of Mr.John Franklin Woods
"God saw a faithful servant, more precious than silver or gold, quietly awaiting a much deserved rest. Jesus dispatched a band of angels to take our dad, brother and husband home to live with Him Forevermore."
John Franklin Woods was born January 28, 1948 to the late Elouise Woods Timmons and Taft Timmons in Marion County. Abba Father led him home to Eternal Rest on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.
Franklin was educated in the Public Schools of Marion County and a graduate of the Class of 1968. He joined the United States Army/National Guard where he served for 10 years with a tour in Vietnam. He received a Bronze Star with letter "V" device. After his honorable discharge from the Military, he worked/retired from the Town of Lake View after 33 and 1/2 years. Frank joined Shady Grove Baptist Church at an early age where he served as a Trustee for many years, until his health began failing. He played softball for the Community of Lake View for a number of years, up until 7 years ago. He was affectionately known as the O Man, receiving the Most Valuable Player Award his last year of playing.
Franklin was married to the late Annie Mae Brigman Woods for over 30 years. This union was blessed with 2 sons: Oscar (Earlene) Brigman and Tony Woods, all of Atlanta, GA.
In 2008, Franklin married Samantha Worley Woods. This union was blessed with 2 children: Braylon Worley of the home and Brittany Worley of Charlotte, NC.
Franklin leaves to cherish his loving memories, Oscar (Earlene) Brigman and Tony Woods, all of Atlanta, GA; a devoted and loving wife, Samantha Worley Woods, a loving and devoted son, Braylon Worley of the home and a loving and devoted daughter, Brittany Woods of Charlotte, NC; 2 sisters, Barbara (Robert) Johnson of Marion, SC and Mary Lee (Charles) Jackson of Chattanooga, TN; 3 sister-in-laws, Annette Worley of the home, Carlotta Timmons of Loris, SC and Loris (BO) Johnson of Dillon, SC and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
