Obituary of Mr. Eugene Thompson
Mr. Eugene "Gene" Thompson was born February 23, 1952 in Mullins, SC to the late Cleo and Rose Lee Thompson. He was the youngest son of 12 children. Eugene entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 25, 2021. He was reared in Hayestown and attended Lake View High School.
At an early age he joined the Little Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Lake View, SC. He served on the Trustee Board, and was a member of the Male Choir and the Inspirational Choir. He was as affiliated with Shady Grove Baptist Church of Lake View, SC, where he was a member of the Choir. Singing was his ministry and singing is what he did. He was a truck driver by trade for over 40 years, in which he drove for Perdue Farms (Dillon, SC), Jones Brothers Transport (Conway, SC), and Davis Trucking (Lake View, SC) to name a few.
Eugene leaves to cherish his memories, his three sons, Gregory (Shannon) Waters of Mullins, SC, Anthony (Shannon) Jones of Lake View, SC, and Thomas (Sierra) Jones of Camden, SC. StepChildren: Marvin (Amoy) Jones of Jacksonville, NC, Erica (Derrick) Roberts of Lake View, SC, Melissa Jones of Dillon, SC, Kevin (Eva) Jones of Arlington, VA. Grandchildren: Ja’Mil Jones, Adon Jones, Todd Lewis, Tiffany Waters, Shekinah Roundtree, Makayla Jones, and Anthony Jones Jr. Great Grandchildren: Cayson Roundtree, Nailah Lewis, and Carson Lewis. Brothers: Grady (Rhonda) Thompson of Buffalo, NY, Robert (Rose) Thompson of Charleston, SC. Sisters: Cleola Thompson of Brooklyn, NY, Susan (Lenue) Hayes of Lake View, SC; In-Laws: Charles Johnson of Queens, NY, and Charles Fore of Marion, SC. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Special Nieces: Rose Marie Page of Columbia, SC, Sharlene Fore and Regina Fore Mack of Marion, SC, and Beverly Gass of Greensboro, NC. Special Nephews: Ambrose Johnson of Greenville, SC, Donovan Thompson of Tampa, FL, and Benton Jones of Dillon, SC. Aunts: Earnestine Brown of Lake View, SC, Elizabeth Townsend of High Point, NC, Betty Jean Graham of Fair Bluff, NC, and Mary Ellen Locke of Detroit, MI. Special Friends: Walter Page of Lake View, SC and James Bethea of Lake View, SC.
In addition to his parents, Eugene was predeceased by his siblings: James Thompson, Bill Thompson, Herbert Thompson, Amelia Fore, Ruby Johnson, Eunice Thompson and Dorothy Thompson.
